Nickel

Nickel

Nickel is a silvery-white ferromagnetic metal. This hard and ductile material belongs to the transition metals category. Due to its low rate of oxidation at room temperature, nickel is considered to be corrosion resistant. Nickel is commonly found in iron meteorites that intensely consist of nickel – iron alloys. Nickel is extensively used in the production of steel and other corrosion resistant alloys such as Invar (R), Monel (M), etc. Nickel plating is commonly done to provide a protective coat for other metals.
